From the Memorial - Dr. Gladys McGarey, 01/19/2008

A letter read at the Memorial: Harvey Rose entered into my life in Jan, 1969 at the second annual Symposium created by the ARE Clinic. This was in Scottsdale AZ. and was held each year for the next 20 years. He arrived with his whole family and never missed a year. We could absolutely count on them being there whether anyone else came or not. This Medical Symposium was the cutting edge of the evolving concept of Holistic Medicine. And Harvey was right there in the front lines. He always brought new ideas and a fresh look at old issues which needed to be reexamined. This was done with great passion and knowledge. His primary concern, however, was not the affect this would have on his reputation as a medical doctor but how it would help his patients. This got him in and out of trouble with the medical community but, in the long run, his work with pain control changed California laws and brought relief to thousands of people suffering with chronic pain. He had a way of looking at the Edgar Cayce medical readings that made their information available and pratical, and he tried most of them out on himself and his family. This takes true courage and a family that trusted his judgement. I will miss you Harvey but please help us as we try to stay true to our Ideal. Gladys Taylor McGarey
