From M. Rose 25th January 2008

It is with much sadness that we learned of Harvey's passing. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with you. Your Dad was a wonderful and unique person, who had a passion for life, his family, and medicine. You are so lucky to have had him as a father, which probably makes your loss even greater. As a spouse of the Rose clan, I remember many good times with your Dad. One year he, your mom and Kari gave us and our girls a whilrwind tour of Sacramento with all of us piled up in one car, ending up near the river at an ice-cream parlor. He also "babysat" Megan and Alyse one evening in a Sacramento Hotel while we were in town for a political event, also ending up taking them to a local ice cream parlor, which they thoroughly enjoyed. I danced with him once at a family event and had trouble keeping up with him as he whirled me around doing the swing. He was quite a dancer! He stayed over our house once while he was in town for a medical eminar. His enthusiasm about what he had heard at the seminar ended up turning into a late night discussion ( and debate) with Jay about the topic. While in L.A. for Alyse's Bat Mitzvah he met with an old L.A. patient in the hotel lobby in which he provided a medical visit in exchange for a loaf of Fairfax rye bread. His energy, sheer enthusiasm, warmth, passion, and love for his family is what I will remember the most. His dedication to and accomplishments in medicine are astounding. The world, indeed, is a better place because of him. With sympathy and love, Melinda Rose
